Lubya Community Primary School, Uganda

A school that serves over 500 children in an area called Namungona, on the outskirts of the capital Kampala. This was one of the first school, Kidcare helped to set up in Uganda. The local church (Disciples of Christ Church) was encouraged in 2004 to use its hall space to cater for poor children as a nursery and children's centre.  The church started with 75 children.  It progressed from Nursery/ kindergarten to build classrooms each year as children moved on. It currently has classrooms up to Primary 7. Kidcare assisted the school to build a classroom block and various other building works. Kidcare has supported the school with gifts of books, computers, laptops and furniture. Kidcare has sponsored children to school providing for school uniforms and school lunch. We currently give financial support on a regular basis to support the teaching staff of this school.
