God is a God of love and wants Christians to make a difference in the world today. He wants us to share with those who have nothing or are in need. May these scripture verses encourage you as it has us to do the work we are doing for vulnerable children and families.

 

“He raises the poor from the dust, He lifts the needy from the ash heap To make them sit with nobles, And inherit a seat of honor; For the pillars of the earth are the LORD’S, And He set the world on them. 1 Samuel 2:8  

 

I know that the LORD will maintain the cause of the afflicted And justice for the poor.

Psalm 140:12  

 

He has regarded the prayer of the destitute And has not despised their prayer. Psalm 102:17


…But he who is kind and merciful and gracious to the needy honours Him. Proverbs 14:31b

 

He has shown you, O man, what is good;
And what does the Lord require of you
But to do justly,
To love mercy,
And to walk humbly with your God? Micah 6:8

 

 Let no one seek his own, but each one the other’s well-being 1 Corinthians 10:24

 

Suppose there are brothers or sisters who need clothes and don’t have enough to eat. What good is there in your saying to them, “God bless you! Keep warm and eat well!” – if you don’t give them the necessities of life? (James 2:15-16)

 

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has chosen me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind; to set free the oppressed and announce that the time has come when the Lord will save his people.”

Luke 4:18-19

 

Share your belongings with your needy fellow Christians, and open your homes to strangers. Romans 12:13

 


 You shall surely give to him, and your heart should not be grieved when you give to him, because for this thing the Lord your God will bless you in all your works and in all to which you put your hand. Deuteronomy 15:10


 But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. 2 Corinthians 9:6-7
