Kidcare Economic Empowerment Program (KEEP)

Kidcare is wanting to provide a way for very poor people to improve their economic conditions by helping them to help themselves.  This project can be found in the Kibbeto village of Wankole a sub county of Kamuli District in Uganda and the Namwendua village of Butagaya, sub county of Jinja District in Uganda.

The Kidcare Economic Empowerment Program – KEEP is a community-led development agenda with support from Kidcare International aimed at improving the lives of hardworking people in selected impoverished villages. Two village communities – Namwendwa and Kibbeto – have successfully chosen 28 villagers and encouraged them to commence business projects of their own choosing. This project was started in October 2016 and continues today with the support of training and supported given by Kidcare staff to these villagers in their start up businesses.

The outworking of KEEP is through giving very poor villagers financial aid to start engaging in businesses or other economic projects to improve their financial standing.

The implementation of this program involved a community co-operative. By putting people in a group, Kidcare create a formula for success based on;

  1. Teamwork and Team support
  2. Collective Responsibility
  3. Member Motivation
  4. A Meeting and Saving Culture
  5. Ease of training

The success stories consists of 42 entrepreneurs who have established their businesses in the last two years through Kidcare international. Businesses include:-
