Kidcare Children’s Home in Buwenge, Uganda

This is currently a home to eight children in Buwenge, a town outside Jinja. Kidcare started this home in 2000.  It has been a home to 58 children in the last 20 years. Children are cared for in the home and also sponsored to a local school. When children start secondary school, they move out to become boarders in their new schools. Many come during school holidays to stay. So the home can accommodate up to 16 children during holidays. When children finish their education, they move to hostels and are able to find their own living accommodation as they find jobs.

The home has been refurbished in 2015 and 2017. Improvement work was done to the structure of the building and its walls. The surrounding compound was paved. Kidcare funding secured the installation of much needed flushing toilets which replaced the out dated pit latrines together with the refit of a new bathroom The home has also been equipped with new furniture including beds, mattresses, bedding and mosquito nets.
